To bring in the new year in proper fashion I’ve been on the wagon since Jan. 3 as part of another, apparently very necessary, 7 Day Detox program which I’m extending well beyond the 7 days. I’m not sure how long this is going to last this time, but it seems to have been greatly needed and, after the long bow of debauchery that was this meandering (stumbling) past holiday season, it’s a phase that is being quite well received.
But because a man is on the detox does not mean he is without longing, does not mean he has lost the appreciation of his favorite intoxicant. So to stave off the desire for a drink on these cold wintry nights I’ve been scouring the internet’s fine collection of beer and alcohol related blogs. One of the better one’s I’ve come up against is the New York Times blog “Proof - Alcohol and American Life“, a collection of about ten bloggers from different backgrounds and different perspectives offering up their visions of alcohol, it’s great swoons and crashing booms.
Here’s one of my favorites so far from Colbert Report’s Glen Eichler on the dumb shit people say at holiday parties when drunk called “Really, It’s the Booze Talking“.
