John McCain canceled his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight. In a personal phone call to Dave he gave this reason: We gotta go save the country! Apparently he was supposed to immediately fly back to Washington to get to the bottom of the economic mess we’re in. Instead, he stayed in New York and got himself interviewed by Katie Couric. This makes his actions surrounding “saving the economy” seem more than a little bit political.

The PCRM (the Physicians Committee for Reasonable Medicine, of which less than 5% of members are actually physicians, and whose name is only their first lie) is about to run a commercial in Chicago trying to link the casual consumption of hot dogs to colon cancer in children. This is NOT TRUE, there has been no link between occassional hot dog consumption and colon cancer in children. Even the daily consumption of a hot dog by an adult only increases your risk of colon cancer from 5.8% to 7%. Which is to say not at all.

The PCRM pretends to be a group of physicians lobbying for causes of “health” but a quick study of their money trail shows they are funded by PETA, and other extreme animal rights groups, some of which have been labeled as domestic terrorist groups (you know like these cocksuckers who bombed a scientist’s house who works for UC Santa Cruz because they use animals in their research) by the United States. In addition to acquiring their financing from water headed vegan dipshits they also sport Ingrid Newkirk, head of PETA, on their board.

Among some of the total numbnut campaigns they have run in the past is an attempt to have all meat and poultry labeled with Bio-Hazard stickers. Now they’re turning their sites on Hot Dogs and fighting their battle with more trumped up lies, lies that even the fucking American Cancer Society won’t cotton too.

As the Democratic National Convention kicks off today I thought it would be interesting to go back and read our fair and sensible president’s charm for the Amurhican peoples back when he was still just an unpopular governor of Texas and the pride of a nation had yet to be fully skinned and hung to tether beneath a constant banner of war and lost jobs.

It’s got everything you’d expect: folksy aphorisms, stupid fucking jokes, a diminutizing attitude toward the office, and a temporal rhyme scheme that could make your skin crawl. It’s classic W. even as he was still very early in discovering his true latent identity as the Decider.

But hindsight is 20/20, right? So, using this retarded rag of a speech as a template, I think it will be fun to hear Obama & company’s bombastic, sincere-sounding orations, as well as the RNC’s snivelling contributions, and fantasize about how these seemingly well-intended words will be dialated and fucked over the next few years.

Come on, Washington, how you gonna let us down next? These are very big shoes to fill.

Pulitzer Prize winning author Ron Suskind’s new book “The Way of the World” presents multi-sourced evidence on a number of damning topics surrounding the Iraq war. Apparently, the Bush administration knew that Iraq didn’t posses WMDs before the invasion and even had the CIA fake a letter to create a fictitious link between 9/11 terrorist Mohamed Atta and Sadam Hussein. The Iraq Intelligence Chief, Tahir Jalil Habbush — a man still carrying a $1 million reward for capture, the Jack of Diamonds in Bush’s famous deck of wanted men — has been America’s secret source on Iraq. Starting in January of 2003, with Blair and Bush watching, his secret reports began to flow to officials on both sides of the Atlantic, saying that there were no WMD and that Hussein was acting so odd because of fear that the Iranians would find out he was a toothless tiger. The U.S. deep-sixed the intelligence report in February, “resettled” Habbush to a safe house in Jordan during the invasion and then paid him $5 million in what could only be considered hush money.

To many people this may come as no surprise, but the legal ramifications of this are huge. It means that there is now undeniable evidence that the administration inappropriately used a government agency (the CIA) to promote its own agenda. This is illegal and impeachable. From the Article “The mission [creating the Habbush letter] is a statutory violation of the charter of the CIA, and amendments added in 1991, prohibiting the CIA from conducting disinformation campaigns on U.S. soil.”
